In 2001, Belay Enterprises started it’s first venture with the goal to provide a solution to this problem by starting Baby Bud’s, a job-training program for single mothers. Baby Bud’s addresses the difficult area of employment for single mothers rebuilding lives from homelessness, prison or addiction. This innovative program operates a baby thrift store that receives donations of baby clothes and furniture. The thrift store was located in a disadvantaged area of metro Denver to provide near-by residents an opportunity at low-cost baby supplies.  Successfully transitioning to its own business, it is currently called Second Chances and located in Littleton, CO.

In 2003, Freedom Cleaning Services started when a local church needed janitorial services. The recovery organization that had been cleaning their facility had just closed and needed a new partner. Would Baby Buds be interested?  Normally a retail baby store would think twice about committing to a job completely unrelated to its core business. But, Dianne had 20 years of experience managing a janitorial company prior to Baby Buds. She saw this as a new opportunity to employ more single moms. Within a couple of weeks, Baby Buds added five single moms for a cleaning crew and Freedom Cleaning Services was born. Within a year, the business had grown to employ ten women with several other churches and commercial businesses as clients.  Today, it is has successfully transitioned to  self-sufficiency and continues to thrive under the Second Chances organization.

In 2002, Belay realized one of the major stumbling blocks to full-time employment for many disadvantaged families was the lack of affordable, dependable transportation.   Partnering with an entrepreneur with a vision and heart for this mission, Good Neighbor Garage was established as a new venture for Belay Enterprises.  Research shows that car ownership by low-income individuals results in more hours worked, increased earnings, as well as a decrease in dependency on welfare programs. Good Neighbor Garage provides safe and reliable donated cars to working families in need. The mission uses donated cars to change lives one family at a time.  Now located in Wheatridge, Good Neighbor Garage has successfully transitioned to a self-sustaining business and ministry.   Continue to help support this mission and choose car donation.

One of the newest ventures of Belay Enterprises is Bud’s Fulfillment Services.   Partnering with other ministries, we saw a need we could accomplish with the employees and extra space at Bud’s Warehouse.   Bud’s Fulfillment Services provides low-cost shipping services for businesses needing to box and mail items to their customers.
